Cyclists Bob Walmsley Court Case

Update

On Thursday June 28, 2007 Defendant Victor Meija appeared before Commissioner Pamela Svoboda. Defense attorney immediately requested bail reduction which the prosecuting attorney objected too. Commissioner Svoboda set a bail hearing for July 16, 2007 at 10am to hear arguments. In the mean time defendant Meija remains in Maricopa County jail.

Prior to the hearing our group; Mrs Walmsley, Rich Rumer, Betsy Turner, Radar Matt , Sandy Gettle, Gene Marchi and myself met with Deputy County Attorney Rene McGregor and Victim Advocate Yvonne Ecker. We reviewed the case and possible actions to be heard in court this morning. We were all in agreement to not allow any type of bail reduction at this hearing.

Prosecuting Attorney McGregor accepted the Action alert letters from Arizona cyclists and will forward to trial judge.

The trial judge will be Judge Garcia

I want to thank all cyclists statewide that responded to this action alert and as this case goes through the criminal justice system we will keep you informed.
