Q. Howdy,
Just curious to find out if you can try a Sunday ride without joining first?
I have not participated in this type of riding and just wanted to try it out.
Mike S.
A. Yes everyone is welcome on our rides. No you don't have to be a member.
If you like what we're doing or have some new ideas, support us by joining
and help us make it better.
Q. Can you suggest routes for us to ride while we are biking in Arizona?
A. I am sorry but our limited staff of volunteers does not have the time to
provide trip planning. There are some excellent books on the state. You may
want to check the web site http://www.biketrip.org/
Q. I am planning a trip
to the Phoenix area and wondered if you guy's
know of road or mt. bike rentals in Phoenix? Any good routes or country
roads arond the Phoenix area? Thanx.....John:
A. Check our web page for info on rentals. http://www.azbikeclub.com/coolinks.html#rent . Those stores can also help you on places to ride.
You can also come out to some of our chapter rides listed on the web site. http://www.azbikeclub.com/weekrides.html.
We do have some maps on the web site too. http://www.azbikeclub.com/coolinks.html#maps Thanks
Q: Hi,
I have a rather random question for you. I have been searching for the answer online but have had no luck! I have a group of friends visiting this coming > weekend, the majority of which are just recreational > bike riders. My wife and I thought it would be fun for us to rent some beach cruisers for the group and tour around Old Town Scottsdale, stopping at some of the bars along the way to grab some drinks. I heard, however, that there is such a thing as a "BUI" (Biking Under the Influence). Is someone just messing with me or is there any truth to this? I do not expect anyone to drink enough to actually impair their bike riding ability but I would rather be on the safe side and look into this first! Thanks! Brian
A: Brian:
No they were not joking. A bicycle is a legal vehicle and bound by state law. The driver of a bicycle is responsible for its operation just like any other operator. Recently Paradise Valley was cracking down on bicyclists and was giving out speeding and stop sign running tickets. They stated that these tickets would count against your license and insurance. I don't think you'll have any problems just use a little common sense. See you on the road.
