The Board of Directors of the Arizona Bicycle Club approved to cease operations of the Club effective September 30, 2019.

To give our ride chapters and members a path forward, we are working with Phoenix Metro Bicycle Club (PMBC) to transition ride chapters that want to continue under the PMBC umbrella. Ride chapters are working through the decision process of either moving to PMBC or choosing another option.

The chapter ride leaders are working with their ride groups to make a decision by September 10, 2019. The Board will work with the ride chapters to transition to their desired choice.

For ABC members not associated with a ride chapter, consider PMBC as an alternative. PMBC has been around since 1998 and ABC has worked cooperatively with PMBC for decades. Their mission is similar to ABC's, they have a robust board, several regular ride activities and social events.

I am deeply saddened that ABC's time has come to an end after 55 years of serving the cycling community. Yet, I am hopeful ABC members can help strengthen other ride groups in the Valley and in that, consolidate resources and continue to be a voice for cycling in the State of Arizona.

Since 1964, the Arizona Bicycle Club (ABC), has served to improve the quality of life in Arizona by supporting bicycling through advocacy, education, organized rides, tours, and events. ABC emphasizes the positive effects of bicycling in providing transportation, recreation, sportsmanship, and good health for everyone.

The Arizona Bicycle Club advocates the use of bicycles as a non-polluting means of travel, protecting the rights of Arizona cyclists to safely share our road and paths with other users, and to increase the bicycle-friendliness of our state's highways and byways.

The Arizona Bicycle Club is affiliated with the League of American Bicyclists.
